HOW WE HELP

Programs

Focused support funds that remove financial barriers and create opportunity for student-athletes at every level.

👟

Camp & Clinic Assistance

This one has happened. In August 2026 we sent ten Carson City-Crystal runners to the Higgins Lake team camp: $1,835.28 all in, which is $183.53 an athlete once the accompanying coaches and staff are counted. Eighteen people paid for it and every figure is on our accountability page. We intend to do it again next summer, and to help with clinics during the year where a fee is what stands in the way.

🎓

Elementary Running (K-6)

A running club, a summer day camp and a mileage club for children from kindergarten through sixth grade. No tryouts and no experience needed. The mileage club is the cheapest thing we plan to do and reaches the most children: about $2 buys a whole season of awards for one child, so $100 covers a class. This is set up and waiting on a season to run in — no child has been enrolled yet.

Scholarship Support

Planned, not yet running. The intention is modest awards toward school or program costs for student-athletes who have stuck with the sport. No scholarship has been awarded and no application has been received. The questions and the process exist; the money does not yet. We would rather say so than describe a program that has never paid out.

🏃

Shoes & Spikes Assistance

Training shoes run about $160 a pair and racing spikes about $130, so a runner properly shod costs around $290. When a family says quietly that it would be difficult, we cover it and the rest of the team never knows which is which. We are raising for this now and have not yet bought a pair. The locker is empty, which is part of why no athlete has asked — a fifteen-year-old does not ask a charity for shoes on the chance it might say yes.

👟

Travel & Equipment Support

Planned, not yet running. Entry fees, transport and the occasional overnight are what stop a runner going to a meet that would have been good for them. We have funded none of this yet. Carson City-Crystal Area Schools lends the vans, which is why camp cost us nothing in fuel, and while that holds the need here is smaller than it looks.

Every dollar goes further.
